São Luís is the capital of the state of Maranhão, in the northeast of Brazil.
Founded in 1612, the city has a historic center declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. The city's architecture combines elements of Portuguese culture with African culture, reflecting the history of the region.
The city has numerous nearby beaches, such as Calhau Beach and Ponta d'Areia Beach, as well as a lively nightlife and rich cuisine.

To get to São Luís, it is possible to do so through the Marechal Cunha Machado International Airport, located about 13 km from the city center.
It is also possible to arrive by road from other nearby cities, such as Fortaleza and Teresina.
São Luís is located on the northeast coast of Brazil, at the mouth of the Anil River in the São Marcos Bay.
Its strategic position on the coast made it an important port during colonial times, and its historic center preserves numerous buildings and monuments that reflect its past as a port city.
