Praia do Forte is a small coastal city located in the state of Bahia, in Brazil. Its history dates back to colonial times, when the García D'Ávila fort was built in the 17th century to defend the coast from pirates.
In the 1970s, Praia do Forte began to attract tourists due to its beautiful beaches and its privileged location in the heart of the Atlantic Forest, an important Brazilian ecosystem.
Currently, Praia do Forte is known for its beaches with crystal clear waters, for the Tamar project for the conservation of sea turtles, and for its rich gastronomy and local culture.
