The history of Porto de Galinhas dates back to the time of the African slave trade, when traders used to bring slaves from Africa and land them on Porto de Galinhas beach, hidden among live chickens to avoid surveillance by the authorities.
In the 1990s, Porto de Galinhas began to become a popular tourist destination, thanks to its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters.
Since then, it has experienced constant growth and has become one of the main tourist destinations in the northeast of Brazil.
