Maraú is a municipality located in the state of Bahia, in Brazil.
Known for its beaches with crystalline waters, mangroves and extensive coconut groves, it is an increasingly popular tourist destination in the region.
Among its main attractions are the Taipu de Fora Beach, considered one of the most beautiful in the country, and the Maraú Ecological Reserve, a protected area that is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora species.
To get to Maraú you can take a flight to Ilhéus or Salvador, and from there take a bus or rent a car to travel the approximately 130 kilometers to the municipality. It is also possible to arrive by sea, through boats that leave from some nearby towns.
Maraú is located on the Cocoa Coast, in the southern region of Bahia, and is bordered to the north by the municipality of Camamu, to the south by Itacaré, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west by Uruçuca.
