Maragogi is a coastal city located in the state of Alagoas, in northeastern Brazil.
The Maragogi region has been inhabited by the indigenous Caetés for centuries before the arrival of the Portuguese. During the colonial era, the city became a center for the production of sugar cane and its port was important for the export of this product.
Starting in the 20th century, the region began to develop as a tourist destination thanks to its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters.
Today, Maragogi is known as the "Coral Coast" due to the coral reefs found just offshore, making it a popular destination for diving and snorkelling.
