Foz do Iguaçu is a Brazilian city located in the state of Paraná, on the border with Argentina and Paraguay.
Its history dates back to the 1880s, when construction began on the São Paulo-Rio Grande do Sul railway line, which included a station in the region where the city is today.
In the 1970s, the construction of the Itaipu dam generated great development in the region, making it an important tourist center due to its proximity to the Iguazú Falls.
The city also hosted the G7 meeting in 1996.
