Arraial d'Ajuda is a town with a lot of history.
In the year 1550 approximately, the Jesuits arrived in the region and built the Nossa Senhora d'Ajuda Church, one of the oldest churches in Brazil.
In the city there are still many colonial houses that were restored and currently function as craft shops and restaurants.
In the 70s, hippies began to arrive looking for tranquility and nature, to live with tranquility and harmony.
In recent years Arraial has grown as a tourist destination.
