It is located about 315 kilometers northwest of the city of São Paulo and about 700 kilometers south of Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.
It is located in a mountainous region, surrounded by rivers and streams, and has a population of around 700,000. Ribeirão Preto is an important sugarcane and coffee production center in Brazil.
