To get to Ilhabela by car, take the Doutor Manuel Hipólito Rego highway (SP-055) and then take the ferry boats that cross the canal.
The boats can carry up to 70 vehicles and take 15 minutes to navigate the 2.4 kilometers that separate the two stations.
On the island, the main road is the SP-131 road that crosses the island along.
