Porto Velho is the capital of the state of Rondonia, in the northern region of Brazil.
It is located at the confluence of the Madeira River with the Mamoré River and is an important port city in the Brazilian Amazon.
It is located about 370 km from the capital of the state of Acre, Rio Branco, and approximately 870 km from the capital of the state of Rondônia, Porto Velho.
The city is also close to the border with Bolivia and Peru.
