Pirenópolis is a town in the state of Goiás, which is located at an altitude of 740 meters above sea level.
Much of the tourism comes to appreciate the architecture and historical importance of the municipality, and to enjoy its natural environment with waterfalls, trails, and a huge area of native forest that is protected by the Goiãnos system of state parks.
The historic center of Pirenópolis was declared Cultural Heritage of Brazil by IPHAN in 1989.
