In the 19th century, the Rincão Bonito Farm was formed, then in 1915, it became a district called Paz de Bonito, belonging to the municipality of Miranda.
It was an independent municipality in 1948, when only the gigantic state of Mato Grosso existed.
There were many internal conflicts with separatist disputes, and in 1977 Mato Grosso do Sul emerged, in the area where the city of Bonito is located.
This was a direct decision of the then President of Brazil, General Ernesto Geisel, and was an important step to improve Bonito.
Then, with the founding of the new state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the capital became Campo Grande.
